Auburn Early Education Center - Additions
The Auburn Early Education Center originally served as the preschool and kindergarten for all children in the Auburn City School System. PH&J designed an 8-classroom addition; and then, in a second phase, a 6-classroom addition along with a Multi-Purpose Building.
The Multi-Purpose Building, which was 12,000 square feet included a full commercial kitchen. This kitchen provides on-site meals. Prior to its construction meals had been brought in from another school nearby. The design includes a large open multi-purpose room of 6,500 square feet that can be configured to serve as cafeteria, indoor play space and meeting space as needed.
The classroom additions, of approximately 8,000 square feet each, included Commons Areas for group activities involving multiple class groups.
