Early Childhood Interior Play Spaces and Furniture Design
The competition is open to Montgomery and the surrounding area high school students.
Students are asked to design unique and engaging interior play space elements or furniture pieces (e.g., activity tables, seating, interactive structures, or small playground components) for daycare centers and kindergartens.
The design needs to be original and unique.
Competition Guidelines:
1. Registration is open from February 17, 2025 through February 28, 2025:
To register for the competition, the student's teacher needs to email the following information to [email protected]
2. The design submission will be accepted from March 10, 2025 through April 11, 2025:
The teacher needs to collect work from students and email each student's submission in a ZIP file (less than 20MB) to [email protected]. Email's subject is "Early Childhood Play Spaces and Furniture Design Submission.".
3. Winners' Announcement during the week of April 28, 2025 through May 2, 2025.
Requirements:
Each student must submit a project that includes 3D and 2D views of their design. The project can be created manually (pencil and paper) or using CAD software.
After the submission, PH&J Architects and CAD designers will discuss the design and announce winners on PH&J Architects website.
Prizes:
1st place = $50 Gift Card
2nd Place = $30 Gift Card
3rd Place = $20 Gift Card

- the name of the supporting teacher
- the list of participating students

- 3D View(s): Should showcase the designed play element or furniture in its best position(s), including color and/or materials.
- 2D Views: Line drawings must be drawn with main dimensions and include a list of materials used in construction.
- Format: Submissions must be in JPEG, PNG, or PDF format.
- Labeling: Each page must include the student’s name and school name.
After the submission, PH&J Architects and CAD designers will discuss the design and announce winners on PH&J Architects website.
