Renovations to the Existing Athletic Fieldhouse
at Escambia County High School To address the current and future needs of the athletic program, this project started with a full demolition, down to the red iron, of the original building. The 5,000 SF renovation of the original frame houses the Head Coach’s Office, Assistant Coaches Suite, Film Room, Athletic Training Room, larger Restrooms and Showers, Team locker Room, and Equipment Storage Areas. A 2,600 SF addition includes the new Weight Room. The Escambia High School Athletic Director and Principle wanted to reflect the school’s spirit, both inside and out of the fieldhouse. PH&J started with the school’s blue and white colors on the exterior: blue standing seam roof, white metal panels, and a grey split face water table. Additionally, a large glass entry featuring a backlight school logo serves as the new “team walk out” area prior to all home games. Continuing the school spirit inside the building you will find school logos embedded in the rubber flooring, blue weightlifting equipment, wall graphics that tell of success throughout the years, and several of the coaches’ favorite motivational sayings. Interior finishes were picked for resiliency and durability as well as a timeless look. The rubber flooring in the weightroom and locker room is dark grey with different accent zones of lighter greys and blues. They coaches’ offices, film room, and hallways are LVT that replicates concrete, the student restroom is an epoxy flooring system that is extremely durable and slip resistant. Wall colors chosen are light to make the space feel larger and more expansive. Owner: Escambia County Board of Education Completion: 2024 Location: Atmore, Alabama |
