Aerospace Training Center at Calhoun Community College
The Aerospace Training Center – production training for the Boeing Delta V Rocket assembly plant in Decatur, is one of PH&J Architects’ most sophisticated Technical Training projects.
This 38,000 sf facility includes a “High Bay” training area including a bridge crane, welding area, dye-penetrant inspection lab, 5-axis mill, vertical boring mill, and press brake, seven classrooms including one for composites training complete with laboratory casework and fume hoods. The design provides a flexible facility to accommodate community interaction, distance learning, continuing education, and industrial relations for the college.
Other major components: A 200 seat distance learning auditorium, administrative facilities for Business and Industry Services, faculty offices and support. A multi-purpose room for community functions, smaller distance learning lab, and corporate level conference space for up to 50 People.
